NIE is an acronym for Newspapers in Education, a world-wide program, promoted by local newspapers to encourage and support classroom learning with "daily-life" news.

The Frederick News-Post's NIE program is dedicated to providing educational services that nurture the next generation of newspaper readers and encourage lifelong reading skills through the use of the newspaper.

With the support of local business owners and individuals, free sponsored copies of the newspaper are offered to teachers in order to bring this vibrant "living textbook" into the classroom!
